Paypal or Merchant Account
by Ratliff J

So, you have an online business, or at least plan to. How to accept payments? You have heard of Paypal, but have also heard different opinions of Paypal. Most people will tell you that it is hard to do business online or on ebay without Paypal. Not true. I am an Ebay PowerSeller, and I do NOT accept Paypal. Why? I have been screwed by them more than once - 3 times to be exact. I simply cancelled my account and took the loss. I am glad to say that I switched to a merchant account, and am very happy with it.

One of the main reasons I hear from people for using Paypal is because it is so easy and quick to sign up. Honestly, signing up for a Merchant Account is not that hard. Once you sign up online with a merchant service, they usually call you within a few days to finalize everything. The good news, a merchant account is cheaper than Paypal.

Why Merchant Accounts?

Does Walmart or Target take Paypal? No. Consumers recognize Visa and Mastercard logos, but believe it or not, some consumers have no idea what Paypal Is.

Does Paypal really provide a guarantee? Not really. if you have ever had a problem with them you know this very well. They use their Terms of Service to get out of most problems and leave you hanging.

Is Paypal Cheaper? No, they are more expensive. Even with paying the merchant fees and the internet gateway fees, my fees are still much less than before.

I hope you will consider looking into a merchant account for your online business.
